Nova Group, GBC Welcomes Michelle van de Pol to Valuation & Advisory Team in San Francisco

Nova Group, GBC is pleased to welcome Michelle van de Pol, MAI, SRA, MRICS to the firm’s San Francisco office, where she joins the Valuation & Advisory team as a Managing Director.

Michelle brings more than 25 years of commercial real estate valuation experience, with deep expertise across a broad range of property types throughout California. Her background includes general commercial real estate valuation as well as specialized experience in development land valuation, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use subdivisions—ranging from small infill projects to large, multi-phase master-planned communities and complex brownfield redevelopment sites.

Her extensive expert witness experience further strengthens our valuation and advisory platform.”

Throughout her career, Michelle has served a diverse client base that includes law firms, lenders, private investment groups, REITs, government agencies, and consulting firms. Her professional services span litigation support, valuation consulting, tax appeal work, and other assignments requiring advanced technical expertise and clear, adaptive communication.

Michelle is also highly regarded for her expert witness experience, having provided testimony in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, Santa Clara County Superior Court, Los Angeles Superior Court, and before Assessment Appeals Boards in San Francisco, Alameda, and San Mateo Counties.

An active leader within the appraisal profession, Michelle holds the MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute and is a Designated Member (MRICS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. She currently serves in multiple leadership roles within the Appraisal Institute’s Northern California Chapter and was the recipient of the Claudia B. Carleton Legacy in Leadership Award in 2024.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the University of California, Davis, and has completed extensive qualifying and continuing education through the Appraisal Institute.
