Michelle van de Pol, MAI, SRA, MRICS

Michelle van de Pol serves as Managing Director of Valuation & Advisory at Nova Group, GBC, bringing more than 25 years of commercial real estate valuation experience to clients across California and throughout the western United States. Based in San Francisco, she specializes in the valuation of a wide range of commercial property types, with particular expertise in development land, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use subdivisions, master-planned communities, infill developments, and brownfield redevelopment projects.

Throughout her career, Michelle van de Pol has provided valuation and consulting services for a diverse range of clients, including law firms, lenders, private investors, REITs, government agencies, consulting firms, and property owners. Her professional expertise includes valuation consulting, litigation support, tax appeal services, and complex assignments requiring strong technical analysis and strategic communication. She has also served as an expert witness in matters before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, California Superior Courts, and multiple Assessment Appeals Boards throughout the state.

Michelle van de Pol holds the prestigious MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). She is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in California and an active member of the San Francisco Association of Realtors.

A respected leader within the valuation profession, Michelle has served in numerous leadership roles with the Appraisal Institute's Northern California Chapter, including Board of Directors member, North Bay Branch Chair, and Fall Conference Committee Chair. She was recognized with the Claudia B. Carleton Legacy in Leadership Award in 2024 for her contributions to the profession and ongoing commitment to industry leadership.

Michelle earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the University of California, Davis, and continues to pursue advanced professional education through the Appraisal Institute.
