Job Description


Structural and Seismic Project Engineers at Nova Group, GBC, are responsible for on-site inspections of existing buildings to gather data for the evaluation and compilation of Seismic Risk Assessments (SRAs). In addition to these responsibilities, this role will include the completion and management of other engineering scopes of work, including Balcony Inspections (CA SB-721), Limited Structural Evaluations, or other engineering assessments. Project Engineers complete all aspects of assessments, including field work, data compilation, and report preparation in accordance with the scope of work and our client needs.


Deliverables for this role will include Seismic Field Checklists, Balcony Assessment Reports, Limited Structural Assessment Reports, and other engineering reports. Our Project Engineers are core members of our project delivery team working with our Senior Engineers, Senior Project Managers and Account Managers to ensure the quality of our deliverables to our clients and exceed their expectations along the way.


Candidates will work outdoors on building sites performing observation visits, existing condition surveys, and destructive and non-destructive tests in accordance with industry standards. Field work will require travel up to 50% throughout the Western US and specific other regions to support project needs; employees may work from home when not traveling.



Requirements


  • 5+ years of recent experience conducting and/or managing structural engineering of buildings, seismic design and analysis, or seismic assessments or related engineering evaluations/assessments. Experience conducting Seismic Checklists or Seismic Risk Assessments is a plus.

  • Professional Engineer licensed to practice Civil, Structural, or Seismic Engineering

  • Knowledge of building components, structural systems, and other building systems

  • Knowledge and experience with ASTM E2026-16a/E2026-24 - Standard Guide for Seismic Risk Assessment of Buildings

  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and related specification sections

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and communication skills

  • Ability to communicate and work both independently and within a team environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Current, valid state driver’s license (position requires a motor vehicle record background check)


Nova Group’s good-faith estimate of the salary for this position at the time of posting is 120,000 – 140,000+ USD. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s experience, skills, education, location, production, and other job-related variables.
