Job Description

Nova Group, GBC is currently seeking high-performing candidates for an Environmental Compliance Professional position in our Environmental Compliance Group.  Environmental Compliance Professionals at Nova work to ensure our clients maintain compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and deliver compliant environmental solutions nationwide.  Nova’s Environmental Compliance Professionals have the opportunity to conduct a wide range of environmental compliance tasks in multiple jurisdictions across the U.S. This is a tremendous opportunity to expand your regulatory and compliance knowledge and experience as you grow your career with Nova. Environmental service areas include Air, Stormwater, Wastewater, Solid & Hazardous Waste (RCRA), EPCRA (Tier II and TRI Reporting), SPCC, FRP, and Auditing along with multiple other related services areas.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in reviews and audits to evaluate compliance with local, state, and federal environmental requirements

  • Assist with regulatory applicability evaluations and determinations

  • Evaluate operations, gather data, and complete permit applications

  • Develop and assist with the implementation of appropriate plans and procedures (SPCC, SWPPP, Emergency Contingency Plans, FRP, etc.)

  • Manage permit requirements and assist in the development and maintenance of compliance demonstration procedures and recordkeeping methods

  • Develop and deliver environmental training services

  • Complete periodic and/or annual compliance reporting requirements

  • Maintain client relationships and efficiently coordinate and communicate services

  • Conduct projects within scope, budget, quality criteria, and schedule

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging USEPA and state EHS regulatory requirements

  • Regular travel is required to client sites as necessary for inspections and compliance support

Minimum Requirements
  • 1 to 3 years of environmental compliance experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage deadlines

  • Strong written communication skills are essential

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent critical thinking skills, and a high degree of accuracy

  • A high level of integrity and ability to take full ownership of assigned responsibilities

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with a diverse workload

  • Flexible and willing to support diverse projects as needed

  • Current, valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Capabilities
  • Experience in one or more of the environmental service areas listed above

  • Self-starter and ability to learn new skills

  • Interest in regulatory compliance and laws

  • Aptitude for technical writing

  • Very strong technical background (math, science)

  • Client and/or project management experience

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification

  • EIT or other professional certification
