Job Description & Requirements

Carlson Environmental, a Nova Group, GBC Company (Carlson), is seeking a senior-level environmental project manager/principal consultant with at least 15 years of environmental due diligence experience in the environmental consulting field. Candidates must have extensive experience obtaining no further remediation/closure letters (NFR) for complex industrial properties in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Experience with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) voluntary Site Remediation Program (SRP), state LUST programs, and other state and Federal regulatory cleanup and closure programs is a must. Experience with RCRA closures and expert testimony is a plus. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience speaking with clients on high-level environmental issues, including prioritizing environmental risks and providing ballpark remedial options and costs. Candidates should be self-motivated, well-organized, collaborative, and able to work on multiple projects of variable complexity at the same time.

Required Experience

Successful candidates will be required to have high technical knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, including very complex industrial sites

  • Phase II Subsurface Investigations

  • Leaking Underground Storage Tank programs

  • State Site Investigation & Regulatory Closure (IL, WI, IN)

  • Brownfield Redevelopment

  • Soil Management Zones/CCDD

  • In-situ and Ex-situ soil and groundwater remediation technologies

  • Vapor Mitigation Technologies

Requirements
  • Develop, bid, propose, and conduct high-level project work including, but not limited to, site investigations, site characterization, remedial design, site closure, general compliance, and other related environmental projects.

  • Interact with clients daily regarding various high-level environmental matters.

  • Support/mentor other senior, mid-level, and junior staff by providing technical guidance and report reviews.

  • High-level management of complex site investigation & remediation projects.

  • Help prepare complex proposals and bid packages for private and public sector work.

  • Participate and collaborate with other senior staff on larger multidisciplinary projects.
