Staff Accountant I
Accounts Receivable
Full-Time - 40 Hours/Week

Location: Minneapolis (St. Louis Park), MN - Hybrid Remote Opportunity

Job Description

As the Nova Group, GBC Staff Accountant I, Accounts Receivable, your primary role will be to collect aging A/R from our clients. You will work with our clients and the Nova Accounting team to investigate and reconcile complex billing and payment processes, participate in meetings and produce A/R status reporting. Our A/R delays are rarely due to our valued client’s inability to pay but to internal disconnects at their end in getting invoices seen and approved by the correct individuals or departments after a project is invoiced.  Client communications with will be primarily via phone and email. You will work closely with and build relationships with our clients’ AP teams, Nova Account Managers and Accounting leads. You will gain in-depth knowledge of Nova’s terms, processes and requirements along with our clients’ internal approval and payables processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel, have strong organization skills and enjoy complex research. Duties will include contacting clients by phone for aging invoices, emailing statements weekly, managing AR inbox, organizing and coding checks that come by mail, researching and assisting returning overpayments on client accounts, meeting with Account Managers to review 120+ aging, and other adhoc projects as assigned.

Requirements
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to communicate both internally and externally

  • Ability to meet deadlines with occasional over-time required to do so

  • Ability to work both independently and within the team on routine processes and projects

  • Ability to work in a fast pace, high volume atmosphere

  • Associate’s degree and/or accounting experience

  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting software experience preferred, but not required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

  • PC and 10 key skills required

  • Satisfactory driver’s license record

Physical Demands
  • Requires long hours of sitting and using office equipment and computers, including repetitive movement of the hands, which can cause muscle strain.

  • The position may also have to do some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
